Global weather routing expert with decades of experience supporting offshore passages, ocean races, and commercial fleet voyages. Christian is the meteorological heart of Marine Weather Intelligence and remains directly involved in the most demanding routing decisions.
Founder & CTO, AI & Data Science
Data and decision science expert specialising in probabilistic forecasting, AI model selection, and maritime decision intelligence. Basile leads the platform architecture and the AI systems behind our weather model bias correction.

Christian Dumard and Basile Rochut co-found Marine Weather Intelligence, combining 35+ years of ocean racing routing expertise with AI and decision science to build the next generation of maritime weather intelligence.
Marine Weather Intelligence wins the IFREMER Octo'Pousse Innovation Challenge, securing a €250k investment from Ifremer for our R&D programme. IFREMER is both a research partner and a key investor in Marine Weather Intelligence's capital.
The integration of ESA-BIC represents a key milestone in Marine Weather Intelligence's progress. For 2 years, the team works with CNES laboratory researchers on two areas: data qualification models, and satellite image analysis for security alerts.

Marine Weather Intelligence and PONANT, the French leader in exploration cruises, announce their collaboration around a data-driven approach to optimise vessel routing using AI. Supported by Région Bretagne via the Inno Expé Numérique programme.
MWI Yachting launches at the start of 2025, bringing AI-powered, expert-backed weather routing to yacht owners, charter fleets, and superyachts. The first maritime routing solution to integrate meteorological uncertainty and live expert support in a single intuitive platform.
Marine Weather Intelligence is awarded the Category III: Ocean Intelligence & Autonomous Systems prize at BlueInvest 2025 in Brussels, an initiative by the European Commission promoting innovation and investment in the blue economy.

The WMO calls on all stakeholders to develop weather safety warnings for all populations through the EW4All (Early Warnings for All) campaign, a top UN priority for maritime and coastal safety.
The IMO has committed to reducing pollutant emissions by at least 70% by 2040, with the goal of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from shipping by 2050.
