November 2024 · 3 min read

Marine Weather Intelligence was selected as the official weather routing and forecast provider for the Vendée Globe 2024, the world's most demanding solo non-stop round-the-world race.

Cutting-Edge Expertise for the World’s Toughest Race

Marine Weather Intelligence has been selected as the routing and weather forecast provider for the Vendée Globe 2024. The company delivered real-time weather forecasts to support race management operations throughout the event.

“We are thrilled to bring our analytical finesse in marine weather to the Vendée Globe 2024. This reflects the confidence placed in our expertise and our ability to provide informed analysis and monitoring to the race management.” Christian Dumard, CEO and co-founder, Marine Weather Intelligence

Basile Rochut, CTO and co-founder, added: “Artificial intelligence is at the heart of our approach. It enables us to refine the accuracy of our forecasts and routing.”

Supporting Safe and Efficient Race Management

It is important to note that routing services were only available to Race Direction members. Skippers conducted their own route simulations aboard their vessels without external assistance, as they are prohibited from receiving routings from land or other boats.

This distinction underlines the role of Marine Weather Intelligence as a provider of operational intelligence for race management, not as a competitive advantage for individual skippers.

Innovative Solutions for Secure Routing

Marine Weather Intelligence developed sophisticated algorithms to offer optimised routing solutions that prioritise safety and efficiency for maritime operators.

The Vendée Globe appointment represents a significant validation of these capabilities in one of the most extreme and scrutinised environments in ocean sailing.
